Echoes of the ocean
This documentary was filmed in June during my trip to South America, over two days in the surf town of Lobitos, Peru. It tells the story of Harald Koechlin — a true local legend whose life has been shaped by the waves. Known in the community for his skill, wisdom, and deep respect for the sea, Harald has spent decades surfing these waters and sharing his passion with others.
What struck me most was his connection to the ocean. It’s not just about riding waves for him — it’s about understanding the rhythms of the water, protecting its beauty, and living in harmony with it. In our interview, his stories carried a mix of humility and experience that could only come from a lifetime spent in the surf.

I also had the chance to join him for a full day on the water. Watching him move in sync with the waves was both humbling and inspiring, a reminder of the timeless bond between surfer and sea. It was an unforgettable experience, and I’m grateful to Harald for sharing not only his time, but also his philosophy of life on and off the board.
